The Linen Garden

I loved coming home to be greeted by parcels waiting to be opened.
I placed a pretty little order from The Linen Garden last week and came home to see it waiting patiently for me today.

I hastily ripped open the outer packaging to find a beautifully wrapped parcel that was almost too pretty to open. Pastel tissue paper with floral washi tape, even a beautiful little note thanking me for my purchase all tied up in a pretty pink bow.

And here is what i bought....
Gorgeous vintage geometric floral fabric. I've never come across anything like this pattern so i had to snap it up before anyone else did even if i don't have a project in mind for it just yet.
Any suggestions what i should make with it?

I have known Vicky, the owner of The Linen Garden and general haberdashery queen for years. I was lucky enough to have her as my tutor in my first year at University where i studied Textiles & Surface Design.
Make sure you have a wander down the aisle of Vicky's virtual shop The Linen Garden  which is full to the brim of gorgeous antique haberdashery and vintage linens for crafters, makers, potterers and creative souls.

Prima Pretty Pastels

A few months back i sent a few items down to the very talented Selina Lake for a photo shoot she was styling for Prima Magazine.
A few days back whilst i was doing one of my many Instagram checks i let out a little squeal as i saw a photo uploaded by Selina..... a preview of the front cover of Prima Magazine with TWO of my cushions on.

I was so chuffed, I've never had any of my work in a magazine, let alone on the front cover. I hadn't wanted to get my hopes up too much as to what, if anything had been featured in the magazine as i was sure Selina had been sent so many fantastic handmade goodies.
This issue of Prima is due to be on sale in April so i will be sure to buy a copy, or 10!
The issue is jam packed full of crafting ideas and inspiration.

Handmade Style

One morning as i was checking through my Twitter and feed saw a tweet from Selina Lake who was looking for handmade products for a photo shoot. I instantly tweeted back optimistically and to my surprise she replied! Whoop!
So off my pretties went down to London to strike their best pose for the cameras.

So hopefully they will be seen later this year in Prima's Summer Makes Magazine. Fingers, eyes, toes, arms and legs crossed!

January SALE!

It's that time again, out with the old and in with the new.
To make room for new fantasticals...(that is a word now) to stock the shelves of my online shop i have added lots of items to the SALE section of my store.
And if that wasn't good enough i am also including a special free gift with every order placed up until midnight on Friday 11th of January.

These fabric pears are so cute. They can be used for decorating your kitchen or perhaps a more practical use as a pin cushion (they are stuffed with polyester stuffing)
They are in the sale at a bargain price £4.00 each.

Make Do And Mend

I really wish i was better with technology! Managing websites, design and such like, i am seriously lacking in that area. Must try harder Lauren!
I am trying to have a tinker round with my online shop, making it look a bit cleaner and slicker. Although i can't be too adventurous as my website knowledge is seriously lacking but i still think it looks pretty good. It will do....for now anyway.

'tis the season

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you all had a fantastic day yesterday, ate too much, drank too much etc it's all good!

I'm already making my new year resolution list and this year i am going to try really hard to be more consistent with my blogging. I love blogging, reading and being inspired by other people's blogs and sharing what i'm getting up to but sometime i get forgetful and i'm not actually sure anyone is even reading? How do i get my blog to be seen by more people?

Anyway i will conquer that at a later date.

For now why not check out the sale section of my shop

Technophobe?

No matter how hard i try i never seem to be that good with computers.

I'm desperately trying to move/incorporate my blog with my Big Cartel Store but i am having no luck whatsoever. I can get Big Cartel's Blog to appear on the blog page of my site but not my own, no matter how many times i aimlessly paste my blog URL here there and everywhere.

Is there anyone out there who can help?

In the meantime check out my Big Cartel Store or my Facebook or good old Twitter.

What I have been up to

Here are a few snapshots of what i have been making over the past few weeks. Some commissions and some new stock ready for my summer fairs and a photoshoot I am taking part in with the lovely Katy from 'What Katy Did Next' and Sally from 'Sally Thurrell Photography'.

Two lovely commissioned wedding gifts i made this week.

Making up some more fabric love hearts and trying out some new little motto's and phrases.

Since everyone is going Jubilee mad it seems i thought i would join in and made some diddy little fabric union jack flags.

This was my Friday night spent sewing in front of the TV.

Etsy Shop P&P

Ok so i am having a little experiment and offering £1.00 postage on all my cushions (yeah ok i know i only have 3) and the fabric signs that are currently in my Etsy shop. There are only one of each of the cushions, and are one offs.
Obviously if this is a sucess then i will list all my cushions at £1.00 p&p..... if not then... i dunno maybe i'll just smother myself to death with my cushions.
And everything in my Etsy shop is handmade by my own fair hands, so pretty please check it out!

Flying across the pond

For my third year at university i made 8 screen printed and embroidered pieces inspired by different cities & counties i have been lucky enough to visit; Paris, New York, London, Los Angeles, Florida, San Francisco & the Grand Canyon.
I sold a few to Spanish fashion company Desigual when i exhibited at the Indigo trade show in Paris.
The remaining ones and made them into cushion which i sold on my old Etsy shop.
However i kept the florida cushion and it now lives in our house in Florida.

While im here in Florida i thought i would bring a little English charm to the US and brought over one of my framed British Bulldog screen prints. It now hangs proudly in my neighbours living room.

You can also purchase one of these screen prints amongst other things i make over at my Etsy shop
