Sunny Saturday Shopping

We all like to support our independent businesses and shop local but perhaps we don't quite manage to as much as we would like.
It's not quite as inviting to browse the local market on a cold rainy day, however on Saturday that wasn't the case. Taking advantage of the glorious sunshine we have been having lately my freckles and i visited our local (Stockton) market.

I picked up local produce for our lunch and snapped away on my phone all the vibrant colours of the fruit and veggies.

A few stalls down was a flower stall filled with so many different types of plants and bunches of flowers, all for a really good price.
I just had to buy a sunflower plant for the garden and a bunch of pretty flowers.

While i was in town i had to pop by the flea market for a browse, would be rude not too. It can be pretty hit and miss there so i didn't have my hopes too high. But i was wrong, there were so many cool things there like a folding Formica table that i adored but have absolutely no room for at home *sob*
Some awesome (slightly creepy) mounted deer antlers and of course the obligatory mismatched tea sets to rummage through.
I did buy a small woven top footstool for £3.00, which i haven't got a photograph of, but i will share once i have painted it some funky colour.

Flo-Rida

Almost there!

This post is a little over due but i wanted to share some snaps of our family holiday to Florida.
Prepare yourself for an image heavy post!

I was prepared for lots of sunshine but i don't think i can ever prepare myself for the humidity, its unreal! Around mid-day the combination the sun and humidity becomes pretty unbearable and i'm searching for the shade or somewhere with air-con, not to mention it makes my hair an unruly frizz bomb.

We of course spent a lot of time lounging around the pool and jumping in when it got too hot! 

As we visit Florida once a year we have pretty much maxed out on the theme parks so we tend to spend more time round the pool, shopping and visiting the beaches.

Our trip also coincided with mine and my Mum's birthdays, hers the 28th of May and mine the 29th.
On my Mum's birthday we managed to persuade my Mum to go shopping with my dad while me and my sister baked a funfetti birthday cake and decorated the house.

We had to grab a beasty burger and Cajun fries from Five Guys Burger and Fries. They are amazing but careful you don't slip into a burger coma.

One Sunday we visited the Clermont Farmers Market. Clermont was such a sweet little town, it looked a little like it was stuck in a time warp... in the nicest way possible, really quaint.
It was jam packed of thrift and antique shops, so of course i had to have a browse....

As usual i absolutely loved my two weeks in Florida which went far to quickly for my liking, see you again next time!

Thrifting

I love nothing more than a good old rummage around a car boot sale or a flea market. Finding unusual retro bargains. And it seems 'vintage' 'pre-loved' 'thrifting' or whatever you like to call it is becoming more and more popular. Its now fashionable to be thrifty and embrace rummaging through old Grannies belongings.
During the summer my Mum and I love visiting little towns and checking out their charity shops and finding

I bought this fully working custard colour GPO vintage telephone for £8.00. I just wanted the phone to sit on a cute set of drawers in the corner of the room, it was an added bonus that it actually works!

A car booty score was this fully working baby blue typewriter. Again, i buy things for their decorative value rather than practical. I don't intend to type novels a la 'Murder She Wrote' this typewriter just looks adorable sitting on my desk and is a great photo styling prop.

Probably one of the cheapest things I've got from a car boots sale- a set of 4 retro, somewhat gaudy cushions. I absolutely love how hideously retro these cushions are, I can imagine they were something my Grandad had sat on his sofa in his living room.
