Jam Jar DIY

I always have lots of bits and bobs laying around left over from projects or projects i have started and never quite finished...oops!
I had a few jars left over from a project that i had been holiding onto them rather than recycling them waiting for an idea to hit me.
Since i got back from America with my stash of decorative paper tape i had been dying to try them out on something. So why not combine the two!

I cut out little triangles of each tape to make a bunting pattern around one jam jar.

I raided my desk drawers and found some natural twine and bakers twine which i wrapped around another jar and tied a maroon coloured wooden heart tag around the top of the a jar for a rustic feel.

I also scored some of this awesome Martha Stewart chalkboard paint in blue and green which I LOVE and have been experimenting with lots. So.... naturally I painted a chalboard love heart onto a jam jar. The only annoying thing is you have to give the paint 24 hours to fully dry before you can have any fun with it. Anyway once the paint had fully dried I doodles 'love' onto the love heart

Around the big jar I wrapped some cute crochet ribbon that I had in my ever expanding ribbon stash.
I also had left over chop sticks and bamboo stick... as you do. So I had a brain wave to make some super cute little flags.

I used a few bunting flags that I had left over and on the back glued two lines of fabric glue and rolled the fabric around the sticks.
Tip: Don't make your flags too big or else they dont hang quite right and just kinda droop.
I also make some little flags with the paper tape which you can write little messages on.

Pop a tea light or small candle in the jars that dont have flags in and there you go.
Be careful not to have any of the fabric flags hanging over the flame of the candles.

I think these would make cute centre pieces at a party or wedding. Very inexpensive to make and lots of fun.
You could customise your flags with little messages or peg messages to each jar. You could write table numbers on the chalkboard hearts, the list is endless.

I also think the flags would look super cute in sandcastles at the beach!
